Prosecute complex cases on behalf of the County and defend the County in challenging civil suits.
Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts between the County and third parties.
Utilize Countywide and department-specific legal technology to complete assignments efficiently.
Requirements
Possess a Bachelor of Law or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college of law
Have had at least six (6) years of full-time work experience in the practice of law, which may include such areas as real estate transactions, tort defense, auto defense, local government taxation, workers’ compensation, employment law, contracts, leases, insurance law, trial and/or appellate work, and legal issues regarding government duties, responsibilities, immunities, and privileges
Be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan
Pass the complete examination, including the employment physical established for this classification
Successfully complete the six-month probationary period
Special Requirements Must remain in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
