About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • This position reports to the Senior Manager, Nuclear Fuels and works collaboratively with the Nuclear Fuels leadership team and other organizations within NuScale.
  • Identify and characterize the full scope of fuels services to be offered — including reload core design, safety analysis, fuel procurement support, and fuel program management — with explicit distinction between services currently available and those under active development.
  • Interface with business development, contracts, and executive leadership to ensure the fuels program strategy is integrated into broader company commercialization plans.
  • Propose and evaluate business models for nuclear fuel products and services that align with company strategy and product architecture, including fuel and supply chain considerations that are unique to NuScale.
  • Develop standard reload core design and safety analysis schedules to support internal resource planning and customer commitment management, accounting for NRC review timelines, fuel fabrication lead times, reload outage windows, and contingencies.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customer discussions related to fuel supply scope, schedule, and engineering services during early program development.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering or similar discipline from a four-year accredited college or university is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of full-time, directly relevant engineering experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing engineering design processes for thermal-hydraulics, transient analysis, and related safety analysis is required.
  • Experience developing or working under a developed fuel program preferred.
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
