About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and/or primary equipment supports in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue.
- Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
- Direct experience with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages.
- Interprets scope and project requirements.
- Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required.
- An advanced degree is preferred.
- A professional engineer (P.E.) certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of full-time relevant working experience is required.
- Candidates must have experience utilizing ANSYS to perform stress analysis in accordance with Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NF.
- Additional experience in the following areas is desired: Seismic/dynamic analysis.
- Computer programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, Matlab, Python).
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
