About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepares and review engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation that communicates the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS.
  • Utilizes the results from BPVC Section III evaluations to optimize component design.
  • Collaborates with peers in different organizations and engage in the engineering change control process to ensure design decisions are well-communicated and well-understood.
  • Reviews design work of other groups (within and outside of the NuScale organization) to gain and maintain an understanding of how components, systems, and structures will work together.
  • Speaks to the design of NSSS Components in discussions with manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is maintained while fabrication of components is considered.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time relevant working experience (1 year if accompanied by an advanced engineering degree) is required.
  • Applicable experience includes the development of technical designs through preparing engineering specifications, preparing models/drawings, performing stress analysis, and/or interfacing with suppliers/subcontractors for engineering solutions.
  • Design experience with commercial nuclear components or BPVC Section III is preferred.
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
