Applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making to perform civil structural design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures
Serves as subject matter expert in the civil structural design areas
Resolving technical issues, coordinating discussion with interdisciplinary stakeholders, and working with the management team to identify project impacts
Works on highly complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas and proposes innovative design solutions requiring a significant amount of independent judgment
Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types
Interfaces with NuScale Licensing in support of domestic and international regulatory efforts
Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in support of the team’s technical activities
Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies

Requirements

A minimum of a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required
An advanced degree is preferred
A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred
Minimum of 12 years of full-time, highly relevant experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required
Extensive use and understanding of ANSYS is required
Must have in-depth understanding of engineering concepts, principles, theories, strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills
Exceptional organization and time management skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required
Additional experience in design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element method analyses
Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual
Computer programing skills (e.g. Matlab, or Python) is not required, but preferred
