About the role
- Conduct detailed sessions with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and data extract requirements.
- Document current state reporting logic, data sources, extract schedules, and dependencies.
- Analyze gaps between current state mainframe processes and future state cloud architecture.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for development teams.
- Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Review and interpret mainframe IMS data structures, file layouts, and extract processes.
- Support the design of new reporting and extract workflows that leverage cloud capabilities.
- Assist in defining data transformation rules and metadata documentation.
- Ensure reporting and extract requirements align with enterprise data governance standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and business units.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in IT services as a System Analyst or Business Analyst
- 3+ years of experience gathering and documenting requirements for reporting or data driven applications
- Familiarity with mainframe systems (IMS, COBOL files, JCL, batch processes)
- 5+ years of proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
- 3+ years of understanding of cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)
- 2+ years of ability to interpret data models, data dictionaries, and technical documentation
- 2+ years of knowledge of database structures and theories
- 2+ years of knowledge of enterprise information management processes and methodologies
- 2+ years of knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations (PII) relevant to data management
- 2+ years experience in working in fast-paced environments with critical decision-making skills.
- 2 years of skill in interpersonal relationships and negotiation among multiple parties.
