About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership, direction and support to professional and administrative staff within a Community Service Centre
- Manage all aspects of Community Service Centre operations, including human resources, finance, office administration, performance monitoring and reporting
- Deliver DCJ core functions and services to vulnerable children, young people and families
- Establish collaborative relationships with community partners and NGOs to integrate local service provision
- Lead implementation of operational changes aligned with DCJ’s corporate and strategic direction
- Develop strategies and make decisions in emotionally charged, difficult and controversial situations
- Build and monitor a fair, inclusive and diverse workplace culture
- Develop unit plans addressing team capability, strengths, development opportunities and continuous improvement
- Address and resolve team and individual performance issues in a timely and effective manner
- Work closely with Aboriginal communities and lead a significant Aboriginal workforce
Requirements
What you’ll need- Tertiary qualification in social work, social/Behavioural Science, Welfare or a related discipline, and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Strong cultural capability and commitment to culturally safe practice
- Ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal people, communities and stakeholders
- Applicants should currently reside within the district or relocate before commencing employment
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness and ability to travel to local offices including Broken Hill, Dareton and Wilcannia, and across the broader South West NSW region
- Subject to reference checks
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
