About the role

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving solutions
  • Utilize various Continuous Improvement tools to analyze shop floor practices and processes to minimize scrap, reduce cost, increase capacity, and optimize schedule
  • Work with frontline leadership to assess current state and define future state possibilities
  • Provide tactics and training to frontline leaders and shop floor personnel to improve current state
  • Conduct studies and generate metrics pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery
  • Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence within program management and customers
  • Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from release of raw materials through product delivery
  • Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure ongoing success of composite operations
  • Lead manufacturing optimization efforts on-site; travel estimated ~10%

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field (required)
  • Associate Industrial Engineer Level 1: 0 years of experience
  • Industrial Engineer Level 2: Bachelor of Science in STEM with 2 years of experience OR Masters in STEM with 0 years of experience in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical, Project Management, Industrial, Facilities, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Systems or Process Engineering
  • Ability to work on an assembly floor
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance, including Special Program Access
  • U.S. Citizenship required for positions with a government clearance
  • Travel: Yes, ~10% of the time
  • Preferred: Expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies/Kaizen practices
  • Preferred: Proficiency in excel, including macros, data mining, and pivot tables
  • Preferred: Experience with data analysis or data visualization tools
  • Preferred: Active DoD clearance and Special Program Access
  • Preferred: Demonstrated leadership through community involvement, extracurriculars, etc.
