About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex materials, structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems
  • Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems for application in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems
  • Select applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs, and requirements of other portions of the product
  • Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes to support mission requirements
  • Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work
  • Perform hands on test support of pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems through functional and environmental testing
  • Conduct pre-launch engineering reviews, examining as built vehicle hardware, pre-launch data, assessing flight readiness and working with the flight field teams
  • Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs
  • Anticipate customer needs and find innovative ways to provide for those needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor\u2019s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master\u2019s degree in STEM with 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience
  • Active US Government Secret Security clearance, or higher at the time of application
  • Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering (preferred)
  • Active US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance at the time of application (preferred)
  • Experience with Matlab and Python
  • Environmental testing experience
  • Data acquisition equipment operation
  • Configuration change management
  • Supply Chain Management of Subcontractors
  • Presentation of technical data to internal and external customers
  • Failure investigation techniques
