About the role
- Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design or operation
- Includes structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs
- Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling
- Performs specialties including dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis
- Utilizes tools such as CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and various software applications
- Becomes part of Northrop Grumman’s Propulsion Systems business group at the Space Systems Sector
Requirements
- This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2
- Basic qualifications for a Structural Engineer 1 are a Bachelor’s Degree
- Basic qualifications for a Structural Engineer 2 are a Master’s Degree
- Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
- Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree
- Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
- Preferred: Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
- Experience with tools/software such as CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications
- Knowledge in damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling
- Knowledge in dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis
