About the role

  • Lead technical-staff planning, assignments, career development, performance assessments and compensation management activities for the assigned Systems Engineering staff.
  • Coach, support and motivate a high-performing Systems engineering team
  • Lead SE peer reviews and formal program and proposal reviews
  • Set and promote high standards for quality and safety; foster engagement for technical excellence
  • Direct and review the work of SE staff, ensuring completion, accuracy and adherence to Systems Engineering processes.
  • Identify SE skills & experience needed for program execution and lead the recruiting, hiring and training of new staff
  • Support new business development, technical and cost volume review, and Basis of Estimates (BOE).
  • Direct and coordinate the development of system requirements and specifications for various systems through multiple program phases.
  • Support pre-proposal analysis, proposal development, mission and system analysis, specification and interface development, design review, testing, problem resolution and customer interactions.
  • Support space vehicle design/development ensuring compliance with customer & internal goals for safety, mission success, and performance.
  • Support program Engineering Configuration Change Board (CCB), Corrective Action Board (CAB) and Failure Review Boards (FRB).
  • Identify technical issues, propose solutions, and monitor resolution with minimal supervision.
  • Interface with customers and associates in engineering, manufacturing, integration and test, safety and mission assurance, and program management.
  • Prepare weekly status reports and periodic technical reports for senior management on program(s) and pursuit(s).

Requirements

  • BS Degree in STEM Science Technology Engineering or Math
  • 12 years of experience (or 9 years with MS/M.ENG degree) in mission design, space or ground systems
  • 4-6 years of functional or project team leadership positions
  • Electrical power systems and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance at time of application
  • Significant knowledge of Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety Engineering design practices.
  • Experience conducting Reliability analyses and verification, including FMECA and fault tree analysis.
  • Experience with Windchill Quality Solutions Reliability software tool
  • Solid expertise with statistical concepts and analysis, including Bayesian inference and Weibull modeling approaches.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings/schematics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and the ability to perform presentations in front of large groups.
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills and ingenuity.
  • Knowledge of System Safety engineering principles and interrelationship with Reliability.
  • Ability to review presentations, emails, and reports for content and accuracy.
