About the role

  • Diagnose and solve software, hardware, network and systems problems
  • Provide technical and help-desk support and advice to over 100 geographically separated users at the 611th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) at JBER and remote locations throughout Alaska
  • Image hardware, software, and networking for up to 100 users on an as-needed basis
  • Serve as Squadron Level cyber security liaison
  • Maintain and update software licenses
  • Support the 611th CES Automated Civil Engineer System (ACES) maintenance and execution
  • Support hardware and software requirements for GEOBASE/GIS system and manage AutoCAD license server
  • Manage 611th CES computer inventory and order new equipment when needed
  • Support 611th CES leadership with hardware, software, network, and systems issues
  • Manage File server and apply patches regularly
  • Respond to user inquiries and resolve problems; create requests/trouble tickets for on-base IT support when necessary
  • Install, modify, clean and repair computer hardware and software; map printers and devices; install necessary applications and updates
  • Assist new users by setting up computers/laptops with property software and anti-virus applications
  • Oversee daily performance of company’s computer systems and evaluate software applications
  • Work independently and collaboratively; communicate clearly with leadership, customers, contractors, and site personnel

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience
  • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security Plus certification within 90 days of hire
  • Must pass pre-employment background check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card
  • Candidates may be required to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance
  • Ability to interact and support squadron senior leadership including commander, deputy BCE, and multiple flight chiefs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to acknowledge and clarify customer inquiries, requests, or complaints
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
  • Demonstrates effective use of MS Office applications, databases, systems, software, hardware, networks, tools
  • Ability to adapt to and maintain a safety conscious work environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Preferred: Associates degree
  • Preferred: Air Force and/or DOD experience
  • Preferred: Networking and IT certification
  • Preferred: Existing background check – National Agency Check
  • Preferred: Ability to travel up to once every two (2) months
