About the role

  • Assemble individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports
  • Assign tasks to and mentor Design Engineers
  • Perform project assignments under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Prepare reports outlining opinions and recommendations for Project Manager approval
  • Research project requirements including federal, state, and local codes and ordinances
  • Prepare design plan sets for construction implementing Project Manager objectives
  • Collaborate with other consultants for project coordination
  • Coordinate plan submittals and approvals with jurisdictional authorities
  • Act as technical advisor to design engineers and may manage small projects
  • Confer with management on major project decisions (client contact, design, cost, schedule)
  • Resolve day-to-day technical problems
  • Travel to project sites and may serve as Field Engineer during construction
  • Represent LBYD at public hearings and assist with client coordination
  • Work alongside functional departments to fulfill corporate needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of design related experience
  • Proven success within the Design Engineer role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with LBYD’s design software
  • Proficient in Civil3d for site design including roadways, lotting, grading, drainage and utility design
  • Ability to produce and assemble complete plan sets that follow LBYD and industry drawing standards
  • Ability to mentor, train, teach and check a Design Engineer’s work
  • Working knowledge of most aspects of LBYD’s civil engineering design and project process
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal design teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work with multiple managers and complete tasks
  • Ability to travel (0-25%) for out-of-town assignments
  • Proof of citizenship required as a condition of employment
  • Candidates may be required to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance
