About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and develop cutting-edge GIS applications and web services within a stimulating multi-disciplinary team.
Utilize ESRI developer tools, open-source technologies, ArcSDE geodatabases, and ArcGIS Server feature services to create mobile and web-based GIS solutions.
Manage the full software development lifecycle for assigned projects.
Design and implement exceptional User Experiences and User Interfaces (UX/UI) for highly responsive and interactive applications.
Gather and refine requirements from customers, user groups, and project stakeholders.
Apply human-centered design approaches to create new high-impact applications to make data actionable and facilitate decision making for clients.
Develop, deploy and monitor lightweight modern serverless public-facing apps in the cloud.
Participate in all levels of the development lifecycle, including direct client interaction.
Lead, collaborate and work in an agile team environment.
Think “outside of the box” and find efficient ways to translate high-level visions to concrete tools and applications.
Consult with client and team members on technical design approaches.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, GIS, engineering, or related field; or six (6) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
At least six (6) years of experience working in GIS development and operations.
Expertise in Esri ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server and associated APIs (JavaScript and Flex), and Esri AppStudio.
Experience with GIS, Geospatial, and mapping software, such as MapServer, GeoServer, MapBox, Leaflet, QGIS, and OpenStreetMap.
Strong experience leading design and development of full stack web applications, such as React, Node.js, ASP, .NET, and Python.
Strong experience leading front-end development including JavaScript, React, and HTML/CSS.
Experience of applying human-centered design principles to develop responsive and intuitive UI/UX.
Strong experience with database design, schemas, and RDBMS including PostgreSQL, SQL-Server, MySQL, SQLite, and ORACLE.
Experience managing and deploying software utilizing CI/CD and SDLC tools and techniques
Knowledge of OpenAPI and experience designing and developing robust scalable APIs
Strong code management skills with Git and GitHub.
Experience documenting application and database designs and developing installation and maintenance documentation and packages
Skills working with customers, stakeholders, and users to gather, refine, and review requirements
Ability to solve problems, work with different technologies, and identify the best solutions
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and strike a balance between development and knowing when to reach out for help
Demonstrated understanding of project management, schedules, and how to estimate the level of effort for development tasks
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and communicate your progress and availability
Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
