About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Interpret blueprints, schematics, and local building codes for maintenance and repair projects
Repair, construct, and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment
Plan and lay out projects and initiate cost estimates
Coordinate with outside vendors to bid parts and obtain cost estimates
Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance and repairs
Maintain and test backflow devices
Maintain plumbing fixtures and water heaters
Repair fixtures, toilets, urinals, sinks, and drinking fountains
Open clogged drains
Follow the International Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, and state and local code requirements
Maintain building roofing
Perform carpentry and electrical installations
Work outside regular hours when required for campus emergencies, special events, closures, or building operations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Four years (48 months) of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey-level tradespersons
Experience in two or more major building or mechanical trades
Experience performing varied repair and maintenance activities
Experience laying out jobs and ordering materials
Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify
Valid Class C Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license required at appointment and throughout employment
Must pass pre-employment controlled-substance screening
Ability to work with and around hazardous building materials
Ability to frequently lift, climb, and move heavy objects
Ability to work around vibration and electrical hazards
Ability to work in small spaces and on ladders
Ability to work in inclement weather
HVAC experience preferred
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
