About the role
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to your vertical, helping translate data into clear, actionable insights that guide smarter business decisions.
- Lead financial planning and modeling efforts, manage the vertical’s budget in close partnership with General Managers, and track performance against key KPIs to ensure alignment with NerdWallet’s annual plan.
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities to help optimize investments, improve expense management, and shape the financial narrative that fuels sustainable growth.
- Work cross-functionally within your vertical and alongside the broader Finance team, applying strong finance and accounting principles to solve complex business challenges and support informed decision-making.
- Lead projects and initiatives with minimal oversight, contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions, and elevate outcomes through thoughtful modeling and analysis.
- Mentor teammates and guide colleagues on financial best practices, supporting onboarding and learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of financial planning and analysis with a proven track record in business partnering
- Prior experience in financial analysis, strategic and financial planning, building and maintaining financial models, and financial systems
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis experience
- Proven ability to identify and communicate business opportunities, risks, and insights in a fast-moving environment
- Experience in revenue analytics, margin analysis, and strategic financial planning
- Outstanding G-Suite (or Excel and PowerPoint skills); familiarity with FP&A tools (Pigment, Anaplan, etc.) and Looker
