About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and maintain detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings, bills of material, and fabrication documentation for custom mechanical equipment.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturability principles to support practical fabrication, inspection, assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support design development for high-temperature equipment, molten salt systems, furnace components, fixtures, piping interfaces, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Coordinate design details with mechanical engineers, piping engineers, electrical engineers, controls staff, procurement, vendors, and fabrication personnel.
  • Revise drawings and models based on design reviews, constructability feedback, vendor input, field changes, and configuration-controlled updates.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation in accordance with project quality, safety, document control, and configuration management expectations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced SolidWorks experience, including complex assemblies, detailed part modeling, fabrication drawings, drawing standards, and bills of material.
  • Substantial design-for-manufacturability experience with custom equipment, fabricated assemblies, industrial systems, or process equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering direction, calculations, sketches, specifications, and technical requirements and convert them into accurate design deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating design details with engineers, fabricators, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation quality, revision control, and practical fabrication/assembly considerations.
  • High-temperature equipment design experience, including molten salt systems, furnace components, thermal equipment, specialty materials, or insulated assemblies (Preferred).
  • Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, nuclear, advanced energy, chemical processing, manufacturing, or highly regulated technical projects (Preferred).
  • Experience with drawing checking, tolerance review, weldments, sheet metal, machined parts, piping interfaces, or vendor fabrication packages (Preferred).
