About the role
- Support the design, analysis, and implementation of complex electrical systems for advanced nuclear projects.
- Lead the design, analysis, and specification of electrical power systems, including MV/LV distribution, grounding, lightning protection, and backup power infrastructure.
- Perform power system studies including arc flash, fault current, coordination, and harmonic analysis, using tools such as SKM Power Tools or ETAP.
- Develop and coordinate multidisciplinary design packages, including drawings, procurement specifications, and technical reports, from conceptual design through construction.
- Serve as Design Agent or Engineer of Record, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, and DOE/NRC requirements.
- Coordinate with I&C team members to communicate power system impacts on control system design and operation.
- Provide construction support, including field troubleshooting, commissioning, and resolution of engineering and design issues.
- Contribute to client-focused projects supporting clean energy and nuclear/environmental programs at DOE/NNSA, NASA, and DoD clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain licensure in Idaho.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical power system design and implementation.
- Proficiency in power system software (e.g., SKM Power Tools, ETAP) and CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, and industrial networking.
- Familiarity with government, nuclear, or large industrial projects, including safety and security requirements (e.g., ICD-705, NQA-1, TEMPEST).
- Strong technical communication skills with ability to lead or coordinate complex projects.
- Experience supporting design and construction at DOE national labs, DoD installations, or nuclear utilities (preferred).
- Background in advanced or modular reactor technologies, including safety-class electrical systems and I&C architecture (preferred).
- U.S. Government security clearance, or the ability to obtain one (preferred).
- U.S. citizenship is required.
