About the role
- Report to the Health and Safety Manager and provide technical expertise, leadership and management to the Health and Safety organization
- Provide tasks and oversight involving safety and health, following applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and reporting requirements
- Develop and implement inspection programs and procedures to ensure compliance with worker safety and health regulations
- Develop, implement and monitor corrective measures to minimize or eliminate non-compliance
- May be assigned to project teams and follow strategy and goals for the Health and Safety organization
- Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, ordinances pertaining to Health and Safety
- Execute procedures and processes, perform field oversight at DOE facilities including office support at Molasky Building and field work at NNSS with physical effort as required
- Coordinate with field personnel, communicate effectively, and complete required training and qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health environmental science, or related field
- At least 5 years’ experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience at a DOE facility
- Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis
- Certification as ASP desirable
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software
- Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position
- Knowledge of construction safety, drilling operations, electrical safety, driving safety, and the DOE Integrated Safety Management System
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at various levels
- Demonstrated ability to perform substantially varied duties and handle issues and questions from field personnel
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment and to work in remote, desert environments
- US citizenship required
