Report to the Health and Safety Manager and provide technical expertise, leadership and management to the Health and Safety organization
Provide tasks and oversight involving safety and health, following applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and reporting requirements
Develop and implement inspection programs and procedures to ensure compliance with worker safety and health regulations
Develop, implement and monitor corrective measures to minimize or eliminate non-compliance
May be assigned to project teams and follow strategy and goals for the Health and Safety organization
Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, ordinances pertaining to Health and Safety
Execute procedures and processes, perform field oversight at DOE facilities including office support at Molasky Building and field work at NNSS with physical effort as required
Coordinate with field personnel, communicate effectively, and complete required training and qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health environmental science, or related field
At least 5 years’ experience
Minimum 1 year of experience at a DOE facility
Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis
Certification as ASP desirable
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software
Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position
Knowledge of construction safety, drilling operations, electrical safety, driving safety, and the DOE Integrated Safety Management System
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at various levels
Demonstrated ability to perform substantially varied duties and handle issues and questions from field personnel
Ability to wear personal protective equipment and to work in remote, desert environments
