  • Duration: This is a contract position supporting design of auxiliary systems for a Small Modular Reactor. Duration is not known at this time.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify mechanical auxiliary systems: heat exchangers, pumps (coolant, ventilation), compressed air systems, ventilation for access shafts.
  • Develop piping and instrumentation schematics for auxiliary support.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers to coordinate mechanical interface with shaft and support infrastructure.
  • Perform thermal and hydraulic analyses, ensure compliance with codes and nuclear-grade standards.
  • Participate in system integration and constructibility reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred). 5+ years in nuclear or heavy-industry mechanical system design. Experience with PWR auxiliary systems, HVAC, and fluid system design. Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, and nuclear safety standards.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
