About the role

  • You will work on cross-functional teams to build scalable systems for our government - designing, implementing, and delivering services that millions of Americans depend on
  • You care deeply about working on technology that improves people’s lives, but don’t think technology is always the answer
  • You are passionate about building large-scale systems that are inclusive, well-designed, fast, scalable, and secure, and you'll help set high standards for our teams in terms of simplicity, empathy, and accessibility
  • The Infrastructure/Platform Engineering Manager leads and manages a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software development platforms for multiple multi-vendor teams
  • Your primary goals are to lead a team, to streamline and optimize developer productivity, platform reliability, and business alignment
  • Additionally, you will contribute to platform design, architecture, and implementation directly

Requirements

  • At least 7 years in platform development, with at least 3 years in formal management roles, leading sizable technical teams and strategic initiatives
  • Proven experience leading platform or infrastructure engineering teams, establishing strategic vision, and delivering robust platforms
  • Advanced skillsets in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and management teams, communicate complex concepts clearly, and solicit feedback for platform improvement
  • Strong analytical thinking to address technical challenges, drive process improvements, and introduce new tools or methodologies as needed
  • Understanding of security principles, risk management, and regulatory/audit requirements for platform engineering
