About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Wood Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the wood processing facility, including production management, employee leadership, quality assurance, financial oversight, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead, develop, and manage production teams while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Direct daily production operations and personnel scheduling.
  • Oversee budgeting, cost control, capital expenditures, and financial performance.
  • Ensure product quality consistently meets established standards.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and coordinate repairs or maintenance as necessary.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in manufacturing, processing, railroad, or related industrial environments.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and operational reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and process improvement methodologies.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and operational equipment knowledge preferred.
