About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepares journal entries and perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Coordinates moderately complex accounting matters and reporting with other departments, locations, divisions, and external customers.
  • Supports internal and external audits, ensuring the availability of necessary documentation.
  • Performs financial analysis to support management decision-making and identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepares ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as required.
  • Supports internal control improvements and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Monitors changes in accounting standards and regulations and assists in implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Safety Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Generally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Insurance accounting experience preferred
  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge across various accounting principles and practices
  • Maintains knowledge of company policies, GAAP, and financial reporting standards
  • Demonstrates foundational analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of company policies and industry laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments.
