Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate student learning and develop instructional strategies meeting diverse student needs
  • Create learning experiences integrating instructional technologies and hybrid, in-person, virtual, and online delivery methods
  • Assess student learning and provide regular feedback
  • Use data to measure persistence, retention, completion, course success, and learning outcomes and design improvement strategies
  • Develop and continually revise competency-based curriculum and instructional materials
  • Fulfill assigned schedules and maintain accurate attendance and grade records
  • Maintain safe, orderly instructional environments and secure equipment
  • Ensure course materials, including textbooks, are available to students
  • Participate in division, department, and team activities and meetings, including planning, development, and budgeting
  • Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners through committees, meetings, business visits, and community groups
  • Collaborate with staff on student recruitment and participate in recruitment events
  • Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps
  • Advise students on class schedules, careers, internships, and program information
  • Pursue professional development and maintain current occupational, teaching, technology, quality assurance, and accreditation requirements
  • Teach English Language Learning courses at Appleton Main Campus and Oshkosh Riverside Campus

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minor in ESL, TEFL, VESL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or Foreign Language instruction
  • OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a combination of 15 semester credits in ESL, TEFL, VESL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or Foreign Language instruction
  • Proficiency utilizing a learning management system
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences
  • Ability to engage in continuous improvement using innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
  • Familiarity with Collaborate, Blackboard, Microsoft Office, Teams, OERs, and other student-success programs preferred
  • Knowledge of a foreign language highly desirable
  • Ability to maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and required licensure for accreditation
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred
  • Experience delivering instruction online in synchronous and asynchronous modalities preferred
