About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead subsystem design and continual improvement of Myomo’s robotic exoskeletons, enabling users to regain arm and hand function.
- Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks to transition early-stage concepts into manufacturable designs.
- Interact with suppliers to obtain quotes and assess component manufacturability from a wide variety of sources, including CNC machining, sheet metal, textiles, and injection molding.
- Collaborate with electrical & controls engineers to develop high-performance portable sensing and actuation systems.
- Construct prototypes, critically evaluating performance using numerical and qualitative techniques.
- Perform drafting, tolerancing, and DFM for low-mid volume manufacture.
- Own mechanical and electromechanical subsystems from concept through production, balancing performance, cost, and reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience work experience or master’s degree and 3+ years’ industry experience.
- Experience with electromechanical product development and manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of rapid-prototyping and volume manufacturing processes including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.
- Experience integrating actuation, sensing, control logic, and electronics in compact packages.
- Experience with wearables, medical devices, robotics/controls, and design control a plus.
- Excellent written/verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Comfortable in fast paced environment with ability to prioritize and adapt in a changing work environment.
- Ability to meet deadline with specified time constraints, with flexibility to both work well independently and in a team environment.
