About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary editorial and grant-writing resource for investigators within the service
  • Lead the development, editing, and coordination of highly technical grant proposals, manuscripts, and research documents
  • Identify peer-reviewed funding opportunities aligned with investigator expertise and service priorities
  • Manage timelines and workflows to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission of grant applications and publications
  • Act as a liaison between investigators, grants management, and external funding agencies or publishers
  • Write and edit grant proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, summaries, and responses to reviewers in compliance with funding agency and journal requirements
  • Perform substantive, developmental, stylistic, and copy editing, including reorganization, fact-checking, formatting, and reference verification
  • Coordinate grant and editorial projects, tracking progress and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Research and analyze funding opportunities (e.g., NIH and other peer-reviewed sponsors) and communicate requirements to investigators
  • Collaborate closely with investigators, grants management staff, and administrative partners to support proposal development and submission
  • Maintain document tracking and version-control systems to support reporting and project management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PhD highly preferred, particularly in a biomedical, scientific, or health-related discipline
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in scientific writing, editing, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience editing and writing highly technical scientific and grant-related documents
  • Working knowledge of peer-reviewed funding processes and submission requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written communication skills and high attention to detail.
