About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist Control Systems Engineers and Instrument Inspectors with automation projects and tasks
  • Complete 1–2 Control Systems projects improving reliability, performance monitoring, or Operations interaction/response rate
  • Help maintain Safety Instrumented Systems documentation
  • Assist with Control Systems Management of Change activities
  • Monitor control systems with Control Systems Engineers
  • Troubleshoot control, safety, and information systems and provide technical support
  • Support projects, changes, and ongoing operational needs
  • Develop functional specifications and detailed designs for instrument or control systems
  • Provide technological expertise to oil and gas production facilities, refineries, and chemical plants
  • Ensure technical integrity of plants and new projects
  • Advise on process safety issues
  • Design, optimize, and improve equipment and facility operations
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory and plant data
  • Assess and evaluate commercial opportunities
  • Support commercial investments and projects through research and analytics
  • Optimize the clean products supply chain
  • Design and implement tools supporting daily operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently enrolled as a student
  • Pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Windows, MS Office, and MS Excel
  • Basic computation and technical skills
  • Time management skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee, asylee, temporary resident, or holder of valid work authorization
  • Must not require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future
  • Previous internship experience is a plus
  • Proven leadership and/or participation in extracurricular activities preferred
  • Other work experience unrelated to the position or area of study considered
  • Must pass annual respirator fit testing
  • Ability to wear required PPE
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, reach, push, pull, and climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and near loud equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand 50% of the time
  • Ability to reach all plant work areas, negotiate catwalks, and handle heights up to 50 feet
