About the role
- Shape and execute the vision, strategy, and performance of Motional’s global test operations
- Oversee multi-site teams and establish scalable operational frameworks
- Drive safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Motional’s AV testing and commercial fleet
- Define long-term vision for Test Operations and align resources, people, and processes with commercialization milestones
- Lead, develop, and inspire managers, supervisors, and operators across multiple test sites
- Establish and refine policies, SOPs, and key performance metrics
- Partner with senior leaders in engineering, safety, and product to integrate vehicle testing into development and deployment lifecycle
- Build and sustain talent pipelines, mentor emerging leaders, and implement workforce strategies
- Deploy new tools, technologies, and operational models for continuous improvement and scalability
- Represent Test Operations in executive forums, customer demos, regulatory engagements, and market-entry initiatives
- Use performance data and operational insights to guide strategic decisions and improve reliability
- Drive a culture rooted in safety, accountability, and collaboration
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, test engineering, program management, or related technical domains
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership (Director or above) capacity
- Demonstrated success leading large, distributed teams in a complex technical or R&D environment
- Strong track record of influencing across executive leadership and building cross-functional alignment
- Expertise in performance management, organizational design, and workforce development
- Experience establishing policies, SOPs, and key performance metrics to ensure safety and reliability
- Ability to partner with engineering, safety, and product leadership
- Willingness to represent Test Operations in executive forums, regulatory engagements, and customer demos
