About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee paraprofessionals who provide services
- Provide direct nursing care to people supported by the Behavioral Health Division
- Carry out treatment and supportive care as directed by nursing and clinical leadership
- Assess and document admission appropriateness, functioning, health status, mental status, medical history, medications, compliance, and treatment response
- Educate individuals about mental illness and substance use disorder
- Participate in treatment, crisis, and discharge planning
- Refer or place individuals requiring a higher or different level of care
- Monitor individuals receiving services for health and safety
- Provide crisis intervention, medication administration, vital-sign assessment, emergency medical referrals, medication and treatment-response observation, detoxification protocols, nursing assessment, treatment planning, aftercare planning, and treatment authorization submissions
- Attend and actively participate in required meetings and training
- Maintain required agency, state, and federal certifications
- Comply with agency policies and procedures and applicable state and federal statutes and regulations
- Assist in emergency and crisis situations
- Ensure physician orders and service-definition guidelines are followed
- Perform other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
- Drive and travel as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's degree in Nursing (required)
- Registered Nurse (RN) certification/licensure through a State Board of Nursing
- 1 year of experience in a crisis management setting providing crisis response (required)
- 1 year of experience with children, youth, or adolescents in a crisis setting (required)
- Ability to work the scheduled Friday 7pm–7am and Saturday–Sunday 7pm–7am shifts
- Must maintain certification in all agency, state, and federal training requirements
- Knowledge of agency policies and procedures and applicable state and federal statutes and regulations
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Driving and travel may be required
