Transportation Engineer – Mid Level
Moffatt & NicholTransportation Engineer managing roadway design projects for DOT and municipal clients. Collaborating with stakeholders and delivering high-quality engineering designs and specifications.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design for DOT, municipal, and private sector clients
- Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
- Maintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT, and other state and private sector clients
- Provide engineering design services for design-bid-build highway and alternative delivery of projects
- Manage client communications and project development for all stages of transportation design projects
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, scheduling, and performance
- Assist in identifying schedule and cost variances and developing recommendations for corrective action

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Specialty in DOT Roadway Design preferred
- 8 to 12 years of experience in roadway design
- Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate required
- Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire preferred
- 3+ years of production experience with OpenRoads Designer
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel when necessary
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
