About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform preliminary and detailed engineering design tasks for coastal and water resources engineering projects, including: Coastal protection and resilience design (beach nourishment, revetments, seawalls, living shorelines)
  • Stormwater management and drainage infrastructure permitting and design
  • Stormwater hydrology and hydraulics
  • Watershed assessment and planning
  • Urban flood risk and floodplain management
  • Low impact development / green infrastructure
  • Perform 1D and 2D riverine and coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling
  • Perform numerical modeling in support of stormwater, drainage, and coastal improvement projects
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in support of final bid packages
  • Participate in design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
  • Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations
  • Under direction, prepare various draft documents, including reports and technical memoranda

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Masters's degree in Civil, Coastal, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; required
  • 0–2 years of experience with coastal engineering, stormwater, floodplain, or site civil engineering
  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Software: AutoCAD or MicroStation experience preferred
  • HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ADCIRC, SWAN, or other hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling experience highly desired
  • MATLAB experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
