About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepares engineering analyses, plans, specifications, and cost estimates in support of flood risk management, coastal resilience, stormwater, and drainage infrastructure projects
- Develops and applies hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic models, including 1D/2D riverine, urban drainage, interior basin, and coastal/tidal systems
- Performs numerical modelling and engineering calculations to evaluate flood risk, system capacity, pump and outfall performance, and mitigation alternatives under existing and future conditions
- Supports analyses related to storm surge, tidal flooding, rainfall-driven flooding, and sea level rise, including evaluation of phased and adaptive implementation approaches
- Prepares technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, figures, and presentation materials to document analyses and communicate findings to internal teams and public-sector clients
- Participates in technical coordination with project team members, internal disciplines (planning, GIS, visualization), subcontractors, and government agencies
- Supports projects involving municipal, state, and federal agencies, including coordination with regulatory requirements related to floodplain management and coastal permitting
- Contributes to technical decision-making regarding feasibility, alternatives evaluation, cost considerations, and constructability
- Coordinates task-level work and collaborates across offices to support project delivery and workshare execution

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred
- 5-10 years of experience
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certificate Preferred
- Background and/or experience with engineering analysis and design of various project types including a combination of: Floodplain mapping and floodplain management FEMA Floodplain Regulations and Standards Stormwater hydrology and hydraulic modeling; stormwater and drainage infrastructure permitting and design Watershed assessment & planning Urban flood risk and floodplain management Flood protection and resilience Low impact development/green infrastructure
- Preparing project scope and fee proposals
- Construction principles, including survey, inspection, and engineering methods and materials, and surveying methods and techniques
- Working knowledge of software programs and techniques, which should include: AutoCAD Civil 3D HEC-RAS , HEC-HMS SWMM/XPSWMM/PCSWMM Infoworks ICM ESRI GIS Python/Matlab/coding for GIS and modeling STRONG PLUS Microsoft Office
