About the role
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes using design of experiments and time studies
- Determine production throughput capabilities, line capacities, equipment layouts, workflow, standard manning, and labor efficiencies
- Identify bottlenecks and apply theory of constraints
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and testing methods and equipment
- Apply lean manufacturing practices and research strategic process improvements to improve safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, yields, and reduce scrap
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering to define standard work processes and testing methods
- Calculate production, labor, and material costs and review production schedules
- Support Operations with Reliability, Automation, and Maintenance to maximize equipment effectiveness
- Define user requirements and lead Site and Factory Acceptance Testing for new equipment
- Finalize drawings and specifications for new or modified manufacturing equipment
- Lead Root Cause Analysis for process problems and lead multiple projects including planning, capital management, procurement, installation, and commissioning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related college degree)
- Minimum 8 years engineering experience
- Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel and Visio
- MS Project or equivalent project management software
- AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent modeling software
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes; automated and manual assembly processes
- Tooling, die and fixture design
- Engineering mechanics, heat transfer, electrics and electronics
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Control system principles and equipment
- Statistical process control
- Demonstrated knowledge of high mix/volume manufacturing methods and cost-reduction techniques in a Lean environment
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems, Cellular Manufacturing and Kaizen events
- Experience leading project teams preferred
