About the role

  • Represent the company professionally while diagnosing product repair issues and implementing solutions
  • Serve as key point of contact on large projects and trainer for new Field Service Technicians
  • Communicate courteously with co-workers and customers; schedule and determine urgency of service calls
  • Order parts, reschedule appointments when necessary, troubleshoot issues and execute repair plans
  • Safely operate hand and power tools and perform complex repairs independently
  • Work with Team Leader to coordinate large/complicated projects and act as lead when Team Leader absent
  • Document service calls and submit closing service information timely
  • Maintain inventory levels in warehouse and vehicle; ensure service vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
  • Ensure job site is returned to original condition and adhere to safety and work policies
  • Provide feedback to leadership on technician performance and manufacturing issues
  • Determine warranty vs installation issues and notify distributors when necessary
  • Support Team Leader with inspections and other functions as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong knowledge of PGT products and warranties
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in manufacturing and/or repair of windows and doors (minimum 36 months)
  • Preferred 2-3 years of PGT specific service experience
  • Ability to use computer and other office equipment and software; must be able to log information in a computer database
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Windows
  • Familiarity with iPad and other devices for documentation and scheduling
  • Good understanding of basic business procedures, practices, and policies
  • Excellent knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Must have a clean driving record per PGT’s safe driving policy
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong English language skills; bilingual English & Spanish preferred
  • Mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; able to read a tape measure
  • Troubleshooting and reasoning ability to diagnose problems and identify solutions
  • Valid Class D driver’s license
  • Aerial Lift Qualified or ability to become qualified within 6 months
  • Must be able to meet physical demands (lifting, standing, climbing) and work mandatory overtime
  • Residence within assigned territory and within 45 minutes of assigned warehouse
  • Overnight travel required
