About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides specialized training and operational support to judicial officers and judicial staff, with a primary focus on criminal judicial law clerks, including training on courtroom tools, technology, business processes, and new system implementations.
- Regularly coordinates local rollouts of statewide technology implementations for districts and provides local project management of district-specific system implementations and small and large-scale process re-engineering efforts.
- Documents unit workflow and operational processes through observing and interviewing employees and/or leading group sessions with managers and system users to obtain information regarding the work of individuals and of the unit.
- Applies knowledge of court business needs and skills gained in formal training program(s) in process improvement methodology to analyze units' current workflows and develop and present recommendations for changes in system use and operational processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and data quality.
- Designs materials and job aids, often in situations where systems and procedures are new or are still in development, business rules and guidelines are not fully established, and significant independent research, active collaboration with other staff and business partners, and application of advanced business and systems knowledge is required; may produce materials for statewide use or use by justice partners, attorney firms, or self-represented court customers.
- Delivers in-person, online, distance training and management presentations for a wide variety of technology and court business functions, including the newest and most complex court technology systems and business processes, across multiple areas of court business.
- Running system reports, reviews of system and business process issues and possible areas for performance and data quality improvement, makes results available and assists management in identifying trends and addressing problems; may be asked to run or arrange for additional ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Facilitate meetings and business practice analysis sessions, and trains other staff to serve as trainers.
- Participates in and provides support to initiative-based and ongoing statewide committees and teams.
- Assesses and troubleshoots system user business problems and escalates issues as appropriate.
- May act as a contact between information system users, managers and technical development staff during system design, development, and implementation of local proprietary systems; provides information and participates in determining and modifying operational procedures during the design, development and testing of systems.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in education, information technology, court administration, public or business administration, behavioral science or a closely related area;
- At least four years of experience in a trial court, training, business analysis, technology support, or a closely related environment.
- Experience working with or directly supporting judicial chambers, including collaboration with judicial officers and judicial staff on courtroom operations, technology, and business processes.
- Experience developing and delivering training on systems, technology, business processes, and operational procedures, including the use of a variety of instructional methods and formats for users with varying levels of knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of court policies and procedures, and business practices pertaining to the case management system and other court technology in multiple lines of court business.
- Experience reviewing and refining business practices and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes that improve the efficiency of case processing.
- Knowledge and experience reviewing technical documents, with a proven ability to understand and translate business needs to technical system requirements.
- Knowledge of various technology and information systems used in the court.
