About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform the full range of court operations work that may involve responsibility for a specific area of court case processing in the Criminal Division.
  • Perform a variety of advanced clerical functions.
  • Provide assistance to attorneys, parties, judges, and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person at the front counter, over the phone, by mail, and/or electronically.
  • Perform courtroom support in both remote and in-person courtroom settings, by working with judges, court reporters, and other justice partners, calling cases, taking notes, drafting orders, and handling documents.
  • Review, enter, record, and update case information using an electronic case processing system and related applications and equipment.
  • Issue receipts for payment of court fees, fines, bail, and restitution; may perform day end balancing.
  • May be responsible for overall jury coordination; provide orientation to jury pool; select jury panels; excuse or defer potential jurors; answer and return calls from potential jurors.
  • May perform the duties of an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) including setting up and testing recording equipment and recording and monitoring court proceedings.
  • Attend and participate in division/team meetings and trainings; maintain knowledge of court policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Administrative duties as assigned, including but not limited to processing mail, answering phones and assisting customers at the front counter.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software (nice to have)
  • Certificate or degree in a related field (nice to have)
  • Basic knowledge of court procedures, policies, and records management (nice to have)
  • Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues, and web-based video and audio platforms (nice to have)
