About the role

  • Performs in-court updating including processing documents filed and distributed in the courtroom, and recording required data in the electronic case management and other relevant systems in the courtroom.
  • Perform a variety of advanced clerical functions and multiple case types.
  • Provide assistance to attorneys, parties, judges, and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person, over the phone, by mail, and/or electronically.
  • Perform courtroom support by working with judges, court reporters, and other justice partners, calling cases, taking notes, and handling documents in the courtroom.
  • Review, enter, record, and update case information using an electronic case processing system and related applications and equipment.
  • Schedule and maintain court calendars.
  • Perform independently the full scope of varied clerical court work relating to criminal and traffic case processing on the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), electronic File and Serve.
  • Classify and verify appropriate document security levels of submitted filings.
  • Issue receipts for payment of court fees, fines, bail, and restitution; receive, review, process, and/or receipt amounts due for witness fees, transcripts, psychological examiners, court appointed attorneys, and interpreters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software.
  • Certificate or degree in a related field (nice to have).
  • Basic knowledge of court procedures, policies, and records management.
  • Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues and web-based video and audio platforms.
  • Comfortability addressing and speaking in front of groups of people.
