About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the delivery of the Markets Domain’s energy modelling work programme.
- Analyse potential futures of energy supply and demand.
- Produce analysis to inform policy development and design.
- Monitor how policies are tracking.
- Help deliver on broader work programme, supporting Senior Data Analysts.
- Engage with stakeholders within MBIE, across Government, and in the energy sector.
- Ensure analysis is accessible, well communicated, and fit-for-purpose.
- Innovate and generate new ideas to enhance core modelling tools and methodologies.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in statistics, applied economics, econometrics, data science, or another relevant quantitative discipline.
- Recent statistics graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with data, identify insights, and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with R (or a comparable statistical programming language) and Power BI, with an interest in modelling, forecasting, econometrics, or related analytical methods.
- Some background in economics, energy, or public policy would be an advantage.
- You MUST have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
