About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a senior member of a team of experienced systems administrators at NASA Ames and the NASA/FAA North Texas Research Station (NTX)
Work with other senior systems administrators to integrate operations at NASA Ames and NTX
Perform IT security plan management, administration, and compliance
Assist other senior systems administrators in responding to security audits
Develop and update documentation of system, network, and security environments as needed
Work closely with NASA customers and support contractors to ensure that ARTS IT infrastructure is fully compliant with security requirements and ready to support end-user needs
Perform troubleshooting and resolution, user support, planning and implementation of software and hardware upgrades, regular backups of systems, restoration as required, development and deployment of new capabilities, implementation of NASA IT security policy, and interface to external organizations and laboratories for networking, VPN provision, and data exchange

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 10 years of experience in IT systems administration, computer engineering, or other related fields
Experience working on a team of enterprise-level systems administrators in a highly dynamic multi-site environment
Extensive Linux (Ubuntu, Oracle Linux) systems administration experience
Expertise in managing networks to comply with an IT Security Plan including management of isolated network equipment (firewalls, routers, switches, DNS)
Experience with IT security benchmark compliance and maintenance
Experience in cloud systems administration (preferably AWS)
Strong Linux scripting skills
Strong system debugging skills
Excellent problem solving, communications, and organizational skills
Deadline and detail-oriented
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
