About the role
- Responsible for a wide range of product management tasks in Mercari Group's Trust & Safety area (fraud/abuse prevention, financial crime prevention)
- Use products to address unauthorized logins, fraudulent payments, and fraudulent listings
- Improve existing features and participate in internal fraud prevention projects
- Formulate mid-term strategies for TnS products and implement current product tasks and improve fraud monitoring operations
- Own the vision, roadmap, and delivery for the internal Tool powering reports, escalations, and moderation
- Partner with Engineering, Design, CS, TnS and related teams to build scalable internal tools
- Translate operational needs into clear product requirements and user stories
- Define KPIs, run experiments, and use data to guide decisions
- Ensure features support risk detection, abuse prevention, and regulatory compliance
- Bridge communication between Japan-based teams and global stakeholders
Requirements
- Native/near-native Japanese + business-level English. Preferred N2/N3 / Level 2/ Level 3 of Japanese Proficiency
- 7+ years of Product Management or related experience
- Strong track record with internal tools, platforms, or workflow systems
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Data-driven mindset and ability to define measurable outcomes
- Experience in Trust & Safety, Risk, or Compliance; e-commerce/marketplace background; familiarity with CS/CRM tools (bonus)
- Deep domain knowledge in AML, fraud prevention, and Trust & Safety areas (bonus)
- Experience working as product manager in software development (bonus)
- Data extraction and aggregation skills using SQL (bonus)
- Project management experience in system development projects
- Leadership and communication skills to get others involved
- Product management experience in marketplace and Fintech businesses (welcomed)
- Experience working as an engineer in software development (welcomed)
- Experience in mid- to long-term product roadmap/IT strategy planning (welcomed)
- Japanese: Proficient (N2/ N3) Required
- English：Basic (CEFR – A2) welcome
