About the role
- Review digitised histopathology slides and provide structured annotations/labelling according to study protocols.
- Apply specialty knowledge to ensure accurate labelling of pathology features and assist in developing annotation guidelines and SOPs.
- Independently review diagnostic outputs generated by AI models and compare them against gold-standard pathology diagnoses.
- Provide structured feedback on model performance, sensitivity/specificity, and clinically relevant errors.
- Participate in systematic evaluation of usability, interpretability, and clinical applicability of AI tools within histopathology practice.
- Work alongside data scientists and software engineers to refine data annotation workflows and model testing strategies.
Requirements
- Histopathologist (ST3-5) based in the UK
- Full GMC registration and license to practice in the UK
- Strong knowledge of histopathological diagnostic criteria and reporting standards
- Experience reporting a wide variety of biopsy and resection specimens
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work systematically
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across research and technical teams
- No prior AI experience required
