About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and administer a community-based, all-volunteer support service connecting adults in mental health recovery with caring, trained volunteers.
- Deliver services designed to promote stability, recovery and community integration for adults with mental health challenges.
- Recruit, match and retain volunteers and people in recovery.
- Interview, screen, train and support matched friends.
- Educate and encourage adults in recovery and their mental health professionals to consider Compeer.
- Provide support to pending referrals through interim Compeer services.
- Engage in community outreach to increase visibility and generate referrals and partnerships.
- Assist Service Director with the development and management of program budget.
- Ensure planning and implementation of all participant services.
- Supervise written record-keeping activities.
- Conduct regular supervisory meetings with the Coordinator – Compeer.
- Write grants and maintain financial reporting.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree and required.
- 3-5 years of mental health experience required.
- A self-starter with the ability to self-motivate.
- Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, tactfulness, and sensitivity; ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Problem solving abilities.
- Organized and reliable, with responsiveness to needs in a timely fashion.
- Good with teamwork (with another staff member).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
- Comfortable with public speaking and leading small meetings.
- Proficient computer literacy in Microsoft Office, e-mail and the internet required.
