About the role
- Lead workspace design projects from concept through construction documentation
- Develop innovative space plans and layouts that optimize functionality, workflow, and user experience while meeting client requirements and building code compliance
- Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal team members to facilitate seamless project execution
- Review and provide technical direction on all aspects of tenant improvement scopes including space planning, furniture specifications, glazing systems, millwork details, finish selections, lighting design, and MEP coordination
- Review construction documents, specifications, and details with meticulous attention to technical accuracy and constructibility
- Collaborate with MEP engineers to ensure integrated design solutions that support both aesthetic vision and functional requirements
- Stay current with workplace design trends, materials, technologies, and sustainable design practices
- Present design solutions to leadership and multiple stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, or relevant related experience
- 10-15 years of professional experience with demonstrated expertise in workplace/office design
- Advanced knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements and ability to implement them into construction drawings
- Strong design sensibility with a portfolio showcasing thoughtful, well-executed workspace projects
- Ability to translate strict brand standards into high quality, visually compelling designs
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of tenant improvement scopes including:
- - Space planning and programming
- - Furniture systems and specifications
- - Glazing systems and demising partitions
- - Custom millwork design and detailing
- - Finish materials and specifications
- - Lighting design principles and coordination
- - MEP system coordination and integration
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and facilitate productive collaboration across diverse project teams
- Can operate with a high level of independence to direct project teams and navigate ambiguity to keep projects on track
- Experience with design software including Revit, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Photoshop; A Revit Assessment will be administered
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to present design concepts clearly to diverse audiences
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in Cupertino, CA 3 days a week
- Ability to travel on an as-needed basis
