About the role
- Director, Data Science role at Mars United Commerce working on a major consumer goods client
- Part of the Analytics Group responsible for data modeling, algorithm development, machine learning and AI models
- Develop techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, NLP, marketing analytics, campaign optimization
- Oversee technical work and lead/manage a group of data scientists, mentor, and provide professional development
- Collaborate with senior cross-functional leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate business requirements into data science projects
- Use tools including Databricks, Azure Synapse, Python, SQL, Azure SQL, Power BI, Looker
- Develop and optimize ML models, feature engineering, evaluation metrics, QA, validation, A/B testing
- Document processes, adhere to data governance/security, and support recruitment and new business RFP efforts
- Maintain marketing certifications and stay informed of trends
Requirements
- Candidates must reside in a commutable distance to Mars United Commerce's hub location in Chicago or New York
- 8+ years of industry experience in a data science/data analysis/statistical analyst role, preferably in the marketing domain
- A bachelor’s/master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a directly related field
- Strong proven leadership capabilities to manage and mentor the analytics team
- Proven ability to oversee and manage a group of Data Scientists and deliver on multiple high-priority projects
- Superior communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical and senior stakeholders
- Advanced expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, big data technologies, and data analysis tools (Python, R)
- Advanced proficiency in SQL with extensive experience in relational, SQL, and NoSQL databases
- Expert-level experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI
- Extensive experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies
- Proven experience in DevOps or MLOps practices
- Deep familiarity with DS or ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Demonstrated success in leading marketing analytics methodologies like Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA), Audience Development, Clustering, Markov Chain analysis
- Strong technical understanding of marketing concepts such as first-party and third-party cookie-based data collection
- Collaborative mindset and critical thinking
- Show a passion for challenging business conventions and provide sound decision-making skills based on industry knowledge
