Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute the infrastructure, IT, cloud, cybersecurity, and security systems strategy across Machina Labs and Machina Bellator
- Lead IT and DevOps teams, develop leaders, define the organization for growth, and build Security Engineering from the ground up
- Guide AWS architecture, reliability, security, cost management, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and production operations
- Establish and mature security operations covering endpoint protection, SIEM and logging, threat detection and response, vulnerability management, incident response, and security architecture
- Own technology strategy, controls, documentation, and audit readiness for CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and related defense requirements
- Architect and operate physical security technology including access control, surveillance, identity integration, monitoring, and related systems
- Create pragmatic security and IT policies with Legal, EHS, Compliance, Engineering, and Operations
- Report to the VP of Engineering – Software & IT and partner with cross-functional business leaders
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience across infrastructure, enterprise IT, cybersecurity, DevOps, or related technical functions
- Significant experience leading technical teams and senior leaders
- Experience owning infrastructure and/or security in a complex engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated environment
- Ability to build and scale technology functions, operating models, and teams
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise IT, cloud infrastructure, networking, identity and access management, and cybersecurity architecture
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud environments and modern DevOps practices
- Experience building or operating cybersecurity programs involving endpoint security, logging/SIEM, vulnerability management, incident response, and detection and response
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as CMMC or comparable regulated environments
- Comfort moving between long-term strategy, organizational design, and technical implementation
- Nice to have: experience with CUI, export-controlled information, classified programs, CMMC certification, ITAR/EAR-controlled environments, manufacturing or engineering facility infrastructure, physical security technologies, and rapid growth
