About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide ongoing legal advice and support to departments on matters of public law;
  • Ensure the legal soundness of the Metropolis's acts and decisions;
  • Draft correspondence, legal opinions, petitions, defense briefs and other legal documents;
  • Contribute to the development, improvement and dissemination of internal procedures and best practices;
  • Participate in the creation, updating and evolution of dashboards and evaluation and inventory tools;
  • Monitor legal developments related to the Metropolis’s competences and help design and deliver internal training for metropolitan departments.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong knowledge of public law and the legal framework for local authorities and inter-municipal public cooperation establishments (EPCI);
  • Solid expertise in legal issues related to land use planning and housing;
  • Proven ability to draft administrative acts and documents;
  • Risk mapping and risk assessment skills;
  • Knowledge of litigation rules and procedures;
  • Legal research techniques and strong analytical and information-processing skills;
  • Excellent legal drafting skills specific to the sector;
  • Experience managing complex files and proposing practical solutions;
  • Ability to draft briefing notes and summary documents;
  • Proficiency with office software;
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and strong pedagogical/communication skills;
  • Rigour, reliability and commitment;
  • Autonomy, initiative and availability;
  • Desired education level: Master’s degree (Bac+5) in public law or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
