About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the process and engagement around building digital products and cohesive end-to-end experiences
  • Lead and mentor Product Designers across teams
  • Collaborate with Product Design Leads and Service Design Leads to align product visions and experiences
  • Envision and design desired end states informed by research
  • Apply user-centered design methods throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Partner with developers on user experience standards and industry best practices
  • Explore design concepts through whiteboard sessions, wireframes, and usability studies
  • Work with product owners to define functionality and end-user requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and potentially manage teams across product spaces
  • Lead cross-functional meetings, workshops, sprints, and planning sessions
  • Plan and perform user/customer research with the Experience Research team
  • Identify opportunities to leverage resources and methods across teams
  • Explore new patterns and practices and contribute to new methodologies
  • Use storytelling and persuasion to build trust with cross-functional peers
  • Advocate for the customer perspective across the organization
  • Participate in recruiting and hiring
  • Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards and implement audit and regulatory action items
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years education and/or relevant/product design work experience
  • Proven expertise in Product Design/Human-Centered Design
  • Experience creating use cases, flow diagrams, prototypes, scenarios, and wireframes
  • Understanding of design thinking methods and their application during product development
  • Hands-on experience designing for digital touchpoints and non-digital channels
  • Experience managing programs through the full product development process
  • Project and people management skills
  • Ability to mentor and educate others on experience design
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity within a self-directed culture
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships
  • Extensive experience conducting remote and in-person workshops
  • Familiarity with Miro and Webex
  • Experience with Adobe, Sketch, InVision, Figma, or similar design and prototyping tools
  • Proficiency in industry best practices for desktop, mobile, and web applications
  • Experience with accessibility standards, cross-platform issues, mobile user interfaces, and systems-thinking
