About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess and manage credit risk for commercial clients
  • Execute transactions and manage commercial loan portfolios
  • Underwrite new credit requests and material modifications from deal screen through approval and throughout the life of the loan
  • Conduct continuous credit monitoring, including annual reviews, interim update memos, covenant monitoring, problem loan management, early warning indicators, and other credit surveillance
  • Review financial statements, tax returns, due diligence reports, credit bureaus, appraisals, internal credit information, industry research, and peer data
  • Complete independent credit analyses, risk ratings, risk and mitigant assessments, industry and market analyses, and financial trend analyses
  • Recommend transaction structures based on company, bank base, and downside scenarios
  • Identify suspicious activity and activity contrary to customers’ interests
  • Partner with relationship managers throughout the deal process and portfolio lifecycle
  • Spread financial statements and prepare cash flow, collateral, covenant sensitivity, guarantor, and other financial models
  • Attend client and prospect calls with relationship managers
  • Prepare summaries, present facts, and offer opinions concerning creditworthiness
  • Assist with loan request structures, terms, conditions, controls, collateral, and guarantors
  • Ensure compliance with commercial credit policy and regulatory standards
  • Present analyses and address questions during credit discussions and committee presentations
  • Identify risk-related issues requiring escalation
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit and regulatory action items
  • Provide input into the development and training of junior and newly hired analysts
  • Lead transaction execution teams in partnership with Commercial Credit Analysts
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field and 5 years’ experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis
  • Alternatively, a combined minimum 9 years’ higher education and work experience, including 5 years’ relevant financial analysis experience
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and credit metrics analysis
  • Ability to calculate and interpret financial ratios, analyze data, and complete trend analysis
  • Emerging proficiency in understanding and negotiating legal documentation, structural analysis, and independently structuring transactions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Customer focus with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, and Bloomberg preferred
  • Experience with nCino preferred
