About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Compile, explore, transform, and validate data from multiple internal and external sources.
Develop, maintain, and document automated data workflows and reporting assets.
Perform data profiling, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
Support data governance through documentation of data definitions, business rules, and transformation logic.
Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, reports, and visualizations.
Support dashboard testing, deployment, enhancement, and maintenance.
Collaborate with business partners to understand reporting needs and support data-driven decision-making.
Translate business requirements into reporting solutions and actionable insights.
Assist with recurring and ad hoc reporting requests and identify automation opportunities.
Partner with Data Engineering and Data Visualization leads on scalable, governed reporting solutions.
Share knowledge, document processes, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Provide stakeholder support and training.
Follow risk, regulatory, and internal control standards; escalate risk issues and implement audit points.
Promote diversity and uphold the M&T Bank brand.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience in lieu of a degree, including a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
Experience working with large datasets and relational databases.
Experience developing SQL queries and performing data analysis.
Familiarity with business intelligence, reporting, or data visualization tools.
Experience translating business requirements into reporting or analytical solutions.
Preferred: 4 or more years of related work experience in data analysis.
Intermediate skills in SQL and Python preferred.
Experience with a statistical analysis software package preferred.
Experience with one or more cloud databases preferred.
Experience working within an agile environment preferred.
