About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwrite new commercial credit requests and material modifications from deal screen through approval and throughout the loan life cycle
  • Monitor existing loan portfolios through continuous credit monitoring, annual reviews, interim update memos, covenant monitoring, problem loan management, and early warning indicators
  • Review financial statements, tax returns, due diligence reports, credit bureaus, appraisals, internal credit information, industry research, and peer data
  • Complete independent credit analyses, risk ratings, credit risk assessments, and structure recommendations across base, company, and downside scenarios
  • Identify suspicious activity, emerging credit risk, risk mitigants, industry concerns, market trends, and financial trends
  • Partner with relationship managers throughout the deal process and attend client or prospect calls
  • Spread financial statements and prepare cash flow analyses, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, and guarantor statement analyses
  • Present analyses, facts, opinions, and creditworthiness assessments during credit discussions and committee presentations
  • Verify compliance with the Commercial Credit Policy and escalate risk-related issues to management
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit and regulatory findings
  • Provide input into the development and training of junior or newly hired analysts
  • Lead transaction execution teams in partnership with Commercial Credit Analysts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in commercial credit, public accounting, and financial statement analysis
  • In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum 8 years of higher education and work experience, including at least 4 years in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and credit metric analysis
  • Ability to calculate and interpret financial ratios, analyze data, and complete trend analysis
  • Familiarity with legal documents and structural elements
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer-focused interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
